Arnie Jacobs’s career in sports began when he was still an undergraduate student at Arizona State University. At age 19, Arnie quickly gained the reputation as the “Super Recruiter”. He recruited several top basketball players from his native New York City to attend ASU and Scottsdale Community Colleges in Arizona. “AJ” as he was quickly called, also was an announcer for ASU, calling many of their big games and even formed his own famous cheering section known as “Arnie’s Army”. In addition he helped recruit for ASU’s football and tennis teams.

Jarrett Lockhart

College: University of Pittsburgh
Jarrett T. Lockhart is no stranger to the basketball world. He has played and coached on different levels throughout his short career, and maintained a level of respect and credibility wherever he has gone.
Most recently he has coached for the Pittsburgh Youth Places Traveling Team in Pittsburgh, PA, where he succeeded in leading his team to the 2005 City Finals. He excelled as an assistant coach with the Y.E.S. International European Team in the summers of 2003 and 2004, and was rewarded with the head coaching position in the summer of 2005. Lockhart also coached internationally at the 2003 Paris Conference Tournament in Paris, France.

Pro-Style Director of Training and Player Development

Evander Ford’s career started at the age of 13 when he began playing and also coaching kids ages 8-10 at the Milbank Center in New York City. At an early age, he possessed major leadership qualities and a love of the game of basketball that was unmatched. He played one year at Brandeis H.S., also in New York, played at Clairton, Junior College, where he played under a drill sergeant and coach that instilled discipline and mental toughness through the game of basketball. Ford also attended Camron University where he played football as well. After doing his graduate work at Benjamin Franklin High School and serving as a substitute teacher and assistant coach, Ford began forming his hard nose training and conditioning tactics, while having a chance meeting with Pro-Style President Arnie Jacobs in the early 1980’s. At Franklin, he coached many legendary players such as NBA and NYC great Walter Berry, where they won NYC and State Basketball Championships. In 1986, Coach Ford became the head basketball coach at Manhattan Center H.S., where he was named NY PSAL Coach of the Year in 1990 and 1992. Ford also was named Teacher of the Year in 1990.

Kenny Stevens
Pro-Style Trainer, President/Executive Director of Dyckman Youth Enterprises

Ken Stevens started out as a youngster playing basketball for fun with his older brothers on the lower east side of New York City. At the age of seven his family moved to the Dyckman area. His brothers showed him the necessary tools to compete on the playground, and years later when his game started to improve he took it to the tough playground of Dyckman Park where he was able to hold his own. At the time, Dyckman had a good summer program that had some of the top tier trainers in the city named Evander Ford and Arnie Jacobs. This is where he received his mental and physical basketball toughness. The Dyckman program was coached by Evander Ford and they competed in the some of the toughest street ball tournaments in the city, the Holcombe Rucker League and the City Wide tournament.

Andre McCollough

Andrea McCullough is an alumni of Pro-Style Basketball Workouts and has played under and been mentored by Arnie Jacobs and Coach Evander Ford for over 20 years. As a point guard at Manhattan Center H.S. in the late 80’s, playing for Coach Ford, Andre was an All-City selection and a Street & Smith’s Basketball Magazine All-American.‘Dre as he is called also played at Bridgton Academy in Maine and attended Allegany College and Eastern Arizona, where he earned a bachelors degree in physical education.

Basil Evelyn
Pro-Style Trainer, President of Elite Sports

College: Chicago State University
Basil Evelyn is the President of Elite Sports. Basil received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology from Chicago State University in 2002. As a former NCAA Division 1 basketball player, Basil knew that he wanted to work as a personal trainer. After graduation he started out working for Bally Total fitness. While there he quickly became one of the top 20 personal trainers in the corporation by his third month. Basil was invited by WGN and NBC to do the fitness segments for the New Year resolution workouts. In 2007 Basil wanted to work with professional athletes, So he founded Elite Sports. Elite Sports focuses on skill development as well as strength and conditioning.

Shawnelle Scott
Trainer
Hometown: Bronx, New York
College: St. John’s University
Shawnelle Scott is another alumnus of our program and has been directly and indirectly involved with Pro-Style Basketball Workouts for many years now. While at All-Hallows H.S. in the Bronx, New York, Scott became familiar with the founders of Pro-Style, Arnie Jacobs and Evander Ford, through city-wide open gyms and local scrimmaging. They helped him develop his game and soon after, he garnered the reputation as one of NYC’s best young Big Men, and even earned All-City Honors his last two years of high school.
